2024 North Shore Community Youth Summit: I am God’s Dream!

Open to all area youth in grades 3 through 12!

The North Shore Community Youth Summit was founded in 2023 by the Rev. J.B. Collins and serves as a chance to connect with other area youth through breakout sessions about relevant topics, community games, music, and an interactive outreach project with Care for Friends. Children in JK through 2nd grade are invited to create a special Mother’s Day Project with Dads from 10-11!

Schedule of Events:

9:45-10:10 am: Registration and check in.

10:10-10:15 am: Opening remarks, ice breaker, and instructions for breakout sessions. 

10:15-11:00 am: Breakout Sessions

  • JK through 2nd Grade (with Dads) will create a special Mother’s Day Project led by the Rev. Will Bouvel from Church of the Holy Comforter.

  • Grades 3 to 5 will be learning about music of the world and reflecting on the summit’s theme of "I am God's dream" with Director of Youth Arts Ministry Megan Gentle from Church of the Holy Comforter. 

  • Grades 6 to 8 will be discussing the topic of “Picture Perfect: A conversation on image and beauty politics.” This session will be led by Minister Squire Prince of Kenilworth Union Church.

  • Grades 9 to 12 will be exploring the topic “FOMO: Fear of Missing Out: A conversation on belonging.” This session will be led by Wendy Samuel of Christ Church Winnetka and colleagues. 

11:00-11:10 am: Recap and Break 

11:10-11:40 am: Team building activities! Tug of war, sack racing, and capture the flag games. May the best team WIN! 

11:40-11:45 am: Break and transition 

11:45-12:30 pm: Outreach conversation and project with Care for Friends of Chicago! CFF will be leading us in a conversation on migrant families and how we can get involved to offer shelter, food and necessities for our neighbors. We will be making hygiene kits for migrant families. This is putting God's dream in action! 

This segment will also have a community lunch component! 

12:30-12:40 pm: Break and transition to the main sanctuary for closing worship.

12:40-1:25 pm: The Worship Service

  • This will be a time of music which will consist of a youth praise team led by Minister Squire Prince from KUC and prayers will be offered, followed by a homily from the Rev. JB Collins. We will then share in a closing activity and a benediction to close out our time together! 

1:25-1:30 pm: Parent pickup
