Our world . . .
• faces uncertainty by wars and terrorism on numerous fronts;
• struggles with our wounded economies and their fallout;
• experiences clashes between religious zealots;
• watches poverty, hunger and inequity destroy lives.
Our nation . . .
• grapples with the impact of this changing world as never before.
Our families . . .
• suffer from the anxiety created by these changes.
We are all on a journey . . .
• to restore our core values;
• to secure our peace and safety;
• to reassert our need for and commitment to one another;
• to rebuild our economy and work force;
• to reclaim our ancient faith and connection to all of humanity.
Welcome to "A Journey of Faith"
Where are we going?
A journey can take you from one location to another. It can also be a passage from one stage to another. Our Journey of Faith will take us from thinking about God "up there" to finding God down here within us and among us. When our relationship with God and others is compromised, we feel broken, confused, alienated, joyless and afraid. Our journey is a search for the promised land . . . a Eucharistic life characterized by life-empowering relationships where joy, thankfulness and grace are experienced, and all are appreciated, included and equal under God.
How do we get there?
We will travel together, using our hearts, our minds and our souls. We will study to achieve understanding. We will listen to become more compassionate. We will discuss in order to learn tolerance. We will pray as a way to discover that God is always beside us. Finally, we will remove all the old baggage and learn to appreciate the joys and gifts that God has given each of us.
Our Journey
The Adult Forum will guide us through our journey, as we prepare, set off and eventually come home. Along the way, we will gain a better understanding of the emotional and spiritual effects of the economy; find ways to simplify our lives and manage the changes that occur throughout life; and learn more about our faith and that of others around the world.
The Adult Forum provides a safe, welcoming environment in which to learn, question and grow in God's grace. It is held in the Great Hall on Sunday mornings from 10:00-10:45 a.m. All are invited to attend. See our schedule of topics and presenters here...
