All Souls' Celebration

Posted: 10/25/2016

Wednesday, November 2, 7:00 p.m.

For the last several years, Holy Comforter has offered a special candlelight evening liturgy on the Feast of All Faithful Departed-commonly known as All Souls' Day-to remember those in our parish and those in our individual lives and families who have died. Once again this year we will offer this beautiful service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2nd.

This is a poignant and meaningful liturgy, during which all are invited to light a small candle after the Prayers of the People, and place it on the altar as a symbol of the person or people they are remembering. These candles then become the light encircling and illuminating the bread and wine of the sacred meal, reminding us that those who have preceded us into the heavenly realms are now themselves shining with the light of God's transformative grace and love. The Adult Choir will also be present to add to the loveliness of the liturgy

If you have not had the chance to join us for this beautiful service in the past, please make a special effort to do so this year, and to remember all those no longer with us who have had an impact on your life. There will be a simple reception in the parlor immediately after the Eucharist.
