Deepest Thanks to Tom Hamilton

As most everyone knows, Tom Hamilton has, at one time or another, been involved in virtually every ministry Holy Comforter has to offer: he has served as a greeter, Lay Eucharistic Minister, participant in the Men's Bible Study (now known as the Men's Open Discussion Group), and the Men's Fraternity and Men's Fellowship. He has helped coordinate the Bridge Ministry, Newcomer Ministry, and other aspects of our common life, and has assisted with stewardship and canvass efforts. Tom has also offered many gifts and talents behind the scenes: for example, did you know that he has for years placed the large wreaths on the double doors leading into the narthex for the seasons of Advent and Christmas? Indeed, I think perhaps the only ministry he has not been involved in is St. Helen's Guild!

One of Tom's most important roles has been that of serving as our parish Chancellor for the past 16 years, providing legal counsel and advice, offering guidance in such areas as insurance and liability concerns, reviewing contracts of various kinds, and consulting on personnel matters, among other activities. After such long and distinguished service, Tom has decided to step down as Chancellor, and has resigned as of the end of 2014. His profound and comprehensive knowledge of the inner life of the parish; his legal sagacity and experience; his dedication as Chancellor: all these dynamics will be sorely missed by those of us who have had the privilege of working with him in this capacity.

Those same characteristics, however, also cause us to offer our most fervent thanks for Tom's service as Chancellor. He has helped shape so much of our parish's life and vitality that the entire congregation owes him our gratitude and our thanks. While we know that Tom will continue to be involved at Holy Comforter in a variety of ways, for now, and especially for his diligent service as Chancellor, we can only say: thank you, thank you, and thank you, again! May God continue to bless Tom as the years unfold.
