Where is God in the Loop?

Downtown Lunch Conversations

How do our lives of faith inform and influence---and sometimes impinge on-our work lives, our careers, our business choices and actions? Is there room for God at work? How is our "vocation" as Christians lived out in our workplaces and business relationships? Is there a disconnect between what we say and pray on Sundays and what we do on Mondays?

If you would like to reflect on these and related issues, and to get to know better some fellow members of Holy Comforter, please join in a series of lunchtime conversations in the heart of the Loop on Friday afternoons from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. These gatherings will take place on April 25 and May 2, 9, and 16 in two successive locations in the heart of the Loop, and will be facilitated by Fr. Jason Parkin.

April 25 and May 2:
J.P. Morgan
21 S. Clark Street
Hosts: David Boles and Anita Tyson

May 9 and 16:
Holland and Knight
131 S. Dearborn Street, 31st Floor
Buckingham Fountain Conference Room
Host: Scott Peterson

Each week, we will discuss a different topic, include such potential questions as:

Work "Matters"
Balance in Life and Work
How Faith Affects Leadership
Tough Decisions

The goal of the conversations is both to reflect on important matters of faith and simply to connect more deeply with God and one another in a unique setting. This is going to be a brown bag lunch experience, although some beverages will be provided; and we will make sure to get everyone out the door by 1:00, if not a little before. Please let Laurel O'Donnell know at 847/251-6120 or ldodonnell@holycomforter.org if you are going to attend.

We will be building the plane together as we fly it together, so come prepared to offer your insights, questions, challenges, and hopes. It will be fascinating to see where our conversations will lead, and to discover how and what we can learn from one another!
