Adult Forum in February

by Fr. Chris Hardman

We have some excellent forum topics lined up for February. Please join us for some lively presentations and discussions. We need your participation so our caring conversations can move us all closer to God.

February 2nd: Mary and Mike McLaughlin will tell us about their passion, the Trees That Feed Foundation, a not-for-profit public charity that provides breadfruit trees as well as other varieties of trees to impoverished people in tropical countries. These trees not only provide low cost food, they restore the land, prevent erosion, and create an environment that supports small animals and birds.

February 9th: Our Stephen Leaders will help us to "speak the truth in love." Our Stephen Leaders are back to help us become better communicators. How do you talk with someone in a caring way when you have something difficult or challenging to say? Get ready for some rousing conversations and some meaningful insight.

February 16th: Deacon Sandy Rex will share a bit about himself and about some exciting and meaningful outreach projects with which he is involved. Sandy has recently joined the staff of Holy Comforter; perhaps you have noticed him taking part in our Sunday services. He brings with him lots of experience in ministering to the homeless in Chicago and will share some of his experiences with us.

February 23rd: Ann Sickon, Executive Director, and Margaret Tanenberg, Director of Community Resources, at Center for Independent Futures will introduce an innovative model for helping people with mental and physical disabilities. The Center for Independent Futures' mission is "to form innovative partnerships and to create products and service models that give individuals with disabilities and their families the skills and opportunities to realize a full life."

March 2nd: Mary Margaret McDonnell, medical ethicist for New Trier Township, will prepare us for a Lenten Program focused on Medical Ethics.
