All Things Bright and Beautiful to You and Yours for 2014

by Mary Johnson, Director of Children's Ministries

Perfect Timing! When the calendar rolls around to the two weeks of Christmas Vacation, it couldn't come at a better time. Without exception, the staff of All Things Bright and Beautiful love what they do and wouldn't change it for the world. It can be observed however, that as Christmas approaches and the children are beyond excited, a two-week break does wonders to bring the energy level back down to a more reasonable classroom level. And the return to school in January is perfect timing for the parents as well. As the song goes, "......and mom and dad can hardly wait for school to start again."

With my dual position here as ATB&B Director and Director of Children's Ministries, I don't have to wait until January to see the children again. I have the joy of seeing many of them participate in the Christmas Eve Children's Pageant. Under the direction of Jenny Case with Assistant Directors Sidney Lind and Ginny Wise, the Pageant this year was the best ever. The Children's and Youth Choirs, under the direction of Bill Gordon, were magical. With the same staging we used last year, we moved the set to the chancel so it was more visible and the Pageant performers could be seen and heard much better. My favorite part this year was at the
beginning of the service when Pastor Heath said, "Let us pray" and the loud echo reply of, "Let us pray" came from the front row of shepherds and sheep. Adorable!
