Youth Choir Returns

Late last fall, we had the great good fortune of welcoming Mr. Bill Gordon to Holy Comforter as our Youth Choir Director. The young choristers had a great (partial) year under his leadership, singing several times during Sunday liturgies, growing musically and personally, and even enjoying a lock-in over the summer! We laid a great foundation for our music ministry with and among our young people, and hope to continue to develop and grow this important part of our common life.

Mr. Gordon is extremely excited to be entering his first full year as Youth Choir Director and has wonderful plans for all of the following groups.  Any youth member who has a passion for singing is encouraged to sing in the choirs.

Junior Choir (for students entering Kindergarten through 2nd grade) will meet every Wednesday from 4:00-4:30 p.m.  Students in this ensemble will develop and learn healthy singing skills, strengthen their melodic and rhythmic ability, sing a wide variety of sacred repertoire, and perform in church approximately every other month.

Youth Choir (for students entering 3rd grade through 6th grade) will meet every Wednesday from 4:45-5:45 p.m.  and every other Sunday morning from 10:50-11:35 a.m.  Students in this ensemble will continue to develop a healthy vocal technique, strengthen musical skills, sing a wide variety of sacred repertoire and perform in church approximately every month.

New this year is a vocal ensemble for seventh grade through high school students!  The group meets every other Sunday morning from 10:50-11:35 a.m.  The church has many talented vocalists, and we're hoping that students blessed with vocal gifts and a love of singing can make a difference in their lives, and a difference in other people's lives, by coming together to sing a variety of sacred music.  Mr. Gordon is looking to have the newly formed members assist in the direction of this particular group. The first rehearsal is Sunday, September 8.

Remember: those who sing, pray twice!
