Welcome To Our New Vestry Members

At the Annual Parish Meeting on Sunday, January 27, the congregation elected Eric Beatty to be the new Senior Warden and Shannon Parsons Campitelli as the new Junior Warden.  Three new members of the Vestry were also elected:  Sarah Alt, who will be the Fellowship liaison;  Oscar David, who will chair Canvass;  and Jane Eaton, Music and Liturgy coordinator.  Below are very brief bios of the three new Vestry members.  Congratulations to all, and thank you for your willingness to serve and lead!

Sarah Alt

Sarah was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and grew up as a member of Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, a large congregation in the heart of the city.  She attended the University of Mississippi and, after graduation, moved to Chicago in order to work as a representative in Pharmaceutical Sales.  Currently, she stays home with her two children, Brooxie, who is four years old and attends the All Things Bright and Beautiful Junior Kindergarten and sings in the Children's Choir, and two-year-old Hamilton, who participates in the ATB&B Mommy and Me class.  Sarah, her husband, Jonathan-to whom she has been married since 2005, and who is a Vice President at Centro-and the children recently moved to a new home in Winnetka after several years in Wilmette.

The Alts have been attending Holy Comforter for two years, and Hamilton was baptized here on the Feast of Pentecost in 2011.  This past year, Sarah served as a house captain for the Housewalk, in addition to active participation with ATB&B and the Church School;  and Jonathan has been involved in several Fellowship events.

Oscar David

Oscar David and his wife, Melissa, live in Winnetka and have three children:  Nicholas, Amanda and Bethany (and two dogs).  The Davids have been parishioners at Holy Comforter for 16 years. Oscar and Melissa-who were married at St. Chrysostom's by our own Fr. George Hull!-have volunteered in many capacities at Holy Comforter over the years.  Both have served as teachers in our Sunday morning youth programs (Oscar currently serves as a teacher to our high school group and has taught since his children were in pre-school).  Melissa has served as treasurer and in other capacities for Housewalk over the years, and Oscar previously served on the Vestry for a three-year term.

Oscar has been an attorney with Winston & Strawn in Chicago since graduating from The University of Chicago Law School in 1987.  He now serves as global chair of the firm's mergers and acquisition and securities practices.  He was born and raised in Rhode Island and moved to Chicago in 1984 to attend law school. Outside of work and our church, he was a coach for 8 years for the KWBA baseball league and coached in the Winnetka Girl's softball league.  He and his family enjoy skiing and golf and are avid Northwestern sports fans (Melissa is an alum) as well as Chicago Bulls fans.

Jane Eaton

Liturgy and Music

A member of Holy Comforter since 1986, Jane has served in many positions and ministries from the moment she arrived.  Early in her time in the parish, she worked on, and eventually headed up, the baptismal receptions, and then she chaired the Housewalk for two years;  and she has maintained a vital involvement in Housewalk for over 20 years.  Jane served on the Vestry previously as the Fellowship coordinator, and is currently the chair of the Flower Ministry and an active member of St. Helen's Guild.  In addition, she served on the Succession Committee in 2010-2011, and is also a counter of the Sunday offerings.

Jane and Tim, an attorney with Shefsky & Froelich, were married in 1983 three years after her graduation from Miami University of Ohio with a degree in Finance.  She worked for Balcor, a real estate syndication company, until the birth of their oldest child.  The Eatons have three children:  Brian (26), Brent (23), and Amanda (21);  and Jane has managed or coached many of their sports teams, and volunteered at New Trier in a variety of capacities.  A few years ago, she started a company with a friend named "The House Nannies," caring for homes of people who are away for short or extended periods of time.
