Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Posted: 1/29/2013

Plan now to join in on the festivities on Shrove Tuesday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Great Room!   As they have for many years, the members of the youth group will host the festive pancake supper, aided by students from younger classes;  and there will be a brief rite at the end of the dinner to ?Bury the Alleluia,? a venerable tradition in the western Church for centuries signifying the fact that we don?t use that particular word throughout the season of Lent.  Fabulous food, fellowship, fun and festivity for all!

And this year, we are adding another new component to the evening:  as a way of raising funds for the youth group mission trip, the High School group will be holding a raffle, and there will be a (very brief) live auction of a couple of special items.  Details are still coming together, but here is a description of one of the proffered items:

Let Them Entertain You!
You and five friends are invited to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cary Johnson for a ?Repast with the Rector!?  Fr. Parkin will entertain you and your dinner companions during cocktails and hors d?oeuvres, playing selections from the Great American Songbook on the piano before dining alongside the lucky winners of this very special prize. Dinner to be lovingly prepared by CHC staff. Date to be mutually agreed on by all.
Value: Priceless                     .
Opening bid: $200.
Live Auction to take place at 6 p.m. at the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on February 12th.  Sealed bids will be received up until Monday, February 11th at the parish office. All proceeds benefit the CHC Youth Group?s Mission Trip.
