Alleluia on the Avenue

All You Need is Love

Beatles Liturgy & Parish Picnic

The title for our picnic this year comes from a song written 50 years ago by John Lennon. It may sound a bit quaint or simplistic, but from a Christian perspective it speaks words of wisdom and truth. The Church celebrates an unconditional, sacrificial love that transforms our lives into lives of great joy. The Bible says explicitly in 1 John 4:8 that God is that kind of love. If God is love then religion and spirituality are all about relationships-with God, each other, and with the world God has made. That means this picnic will be a terrific venue for meeting God and celebrating our life together.

The music will be provided by Jay Goeppner and the Backdated Band. Jay was the "John Lennon" side of the "Beatles Brothers," a very popular group that played in the Chicago area a few years back. He is still playing Beatles music and we know you will love the ones we will sing together. Here is a list: I Wanna Hold Your Hand, I Saw Her Standing There, Here Comes the Sun, In My Life, My Sweet Lord, Let It Be, Nowhere Man, Hey Jude, Twist and Shout, and All You Need Is Love.

A special feature this year will be the presence of the new Misericordia Bakery Truck. Certain items on the truck will be free as a part of the picnic. Other items may be purchased. Holy Comforter's picnic is one of the very first stops for this new "traveling bakery truck."

So come join us Saunday, May 21st at 10:00 am. The Backdated Band will be there. The Misericordia Bakery Truck will be there. The clergy will be there. The staff will be there. So, you be there too-and bring your friends!
