June 2010 Parent Feedback

To all the wonderful adults who watched over Scotty last week...

We have one very appreciative and happy mission trip attendee! It amazes us how one week can result in a world of changes in perspective. Scotty appreciated the comforts of home - starting with the long hot shower he took as soon as he got home on Saturday night! However, the insight into another culture and how others survive in very different circumstances is the true gift here. We have learned about how hard the coffee roaster works to support his family, how far the $5.00 Scotty takes for granted will go in the hands of a Nicaraguan family, how long the Nicaraguan women worked to make the pine needle baskets and tortillas. He has the mission trip prayer committed to memory.

Thank you for taking the time out of your schedules - all year in preparation and for the trip itself - to truly make a difference.

Sincerely,
Doug & Melanie Stieber

Kurt and I wanted to give you a big shout out along with our heartfelt thanks for lending your time, leadership, talents and fun spirit to our children this past week on your journey to Nicaragua. We've yet to hear all the details, but Nolen came home happy, positive and energetic from the trip. I do know that having you all with Nolen was a great source of comfort. Being such wonderful mentors from the initial planning to the trip home and everything in between is such a blessing. How lucky we are! From the bits we've heard it was a great success.

We very much appreciated the wonderful updates and look forward to catching up with each of you to learn your perspective of the week at some point in the future. In the meantime, we hope you can catch up on some much needed rest, reconnect with friends and family all while knowing what a wonderful impact your participation had on Nolen and the other kids.

Jeff, I hope the storm has eased and you now know how much support you have and had during the time they were all away. Thanks for staying the course and always passing on the information that was available. We could not have asked for anymore from any of you! I really thought we would not hear a thing until the group returned.

Nolen was up with the birds this morning, perhaps the roosters have left a lasting impression. We are anxious for him to return home from caddying to share the memories of the trip.

Many many thanks, Julie

Thank you for all that you have done to make this trip such a success. We pray that Hannah has grown on this trip, miss her dearly, and look forward to welcoming her home tomorrow.

While it's obviously great to have word that the group is safe and happy, I believe no news is good news and have full confidence in the leadership from CHC and Fabretto.

Jeff,  please feel free to post my comments.  I have nothing but positives to say for this whole experience.
Thank you for everything.  I wasn't expecting any information so having the website updates is a fantastic bonus.  As others have said - no news is good news and I have total faith in all the trip participants.

I wanted to echo the positive comments you  have received so far!  Our children our in tremendously capable hands, we have complete confidence in the leadership of the adults and also the kids themselves.  We too were never under the impression that you would be handholding us here at home and instead felt every confidence that no news is good news!  Please don't feel any need to apologize or have one moment second thought for anything!  We very much appreciate the updates and look forward to hearing all the trip details when the group returns home!

Jeff, thanks for the update.  Just for the record, I always assume my kid is in good hands and all is well.  If there are worried parents out there, perhaps they need to remember their high school and college days when we traveled to distant lands with the only communication home postcards to say everything was fine or maybe a call home once a month!

Thanks, Jeff, for sharing the information as soon as you received it.  I'm confident that logistics were handled as effectively as can be expected in a third world environment and feel that we should not spend too much time staying in touch with them.  Part of this project is fostering independence!!

Please don't apologize to us.  We have every confidence in this entire effort.  By and large, we assumed that we would only hear if things were not as planned.  Other than that, we have absolutely no expectation of any communication other than the calling tree to come get our kids at the church once the trip is completed.
The organization and approach to this trip has been, and continues to be terrific.  Thanks for all you and your team are doing.
