Matrimony is the celebration of the beginning of a lifelong union of a man and a woman. The Church, as represented in the Bishop or Priest, announces God's blessing and grace on the newly-united couple. The union of husband and wife signifies to us the mystery of the union of Christ and his Church.
Arrangements for Holy Matrimony are made with the Rector. Since matrimony is a Sacrament of the Church, all weddings take place in the church. The wedding service comes from the Book of Common Prayer and all aspects conform to the Prayer Book and its rubrics, and the customary of the parish. A Matrimony Handbook is available or may be secured in the parish office which provides more detailed information about preparing for a wedding at Holy Comforter. Please read the handbook through and then call for an appointment with the Rector before scheduling your wedding.
