How Can You Serve?

Liturgical Ministries for 2015 - 2016

As we begin a new liturgical and programmatic year at Holy Comforter, we are eager to welcome new members to our Greeters crew, as well as young people wishing to serve in one of the several ministries open to them:  as greeters, acolytes, crucifers, lectors, and videographers.

Greeters, as everyone knows, are the faithful folk who welcome us to worship every Sunday at each of the three liturgies, handing out bulletins, helping with mobility or seating issues, directing newcomers to classrooms, and other such helpful acts.  We can always use new faces offering this ministry of hospitality.  If you are interested, please contact either the church office or Tina Harlan, who is our new scheduling coordinator for greeters (thank you, Tina!)

Young people from grades four through senior year in high school are encouraged to offer their gifts in one of the other liturgical roles.  Simply stated, our worship, especially at the 9:00 Eucharist, would not be possible without the leadership and service of our young people.  We have plans to increase refresher training, as well as to add some fun fellowship moments this year, so this would be a great time to connect or reconnect!  You can find sign up forms in the parlor, or make known your child's interest in serving by calling the church office. This year, we are adding the role of Chapel Helpers: 7th and 8th graders who assist in the Children's Chapel during the 9:00 worship time, and then go to their own classrooms for Church School.

And while we're at it, how about joining the Altar Ministry?  The men and women who serve in this capacity are the people who make all of our worship possible by cleaning vessels, changing vestments and altar hangings, preparing the Church and Chapel for Sunday morning and weekday Eucharists, among other activities.  You can serve on Sundays only, on weekdays only, or a combination of both!  Again, please contact the church office or let the Rector know of your interest.  Thorough training and support, as well as a fun, loving community, are provided.
