Correct knowledge about Islam, the third great monotheistic religion, can lead to the dialogue that is very much needed today.

THURSDAY, MARCH 11 AT 6:00 PM *
Judaism

Although often considered an ancient religion and the oldest of the three Abrahamic faiths, Judaism has never stopped evolving. Indeed, what is commonly understood as "Judaism" - i.e. rabbinic, Talmudic, classical Judaism - is a development of late antiquity and the early middle ages and thus in some sense a younger religion than Christianity. This presentation will survey some of the major historical developments of Judaism (including the birth of Christianity) and the major features of rabbinic and other forms of Judaism. Audio and video here...

Presenter: Adam Rose, instructor at the University of Chicago Graham School of General Studies, teaching primarily in the Basic Program of Liberal Education for Adults. His teaching interests focus on the myths and scriptures of various traditions. Adam received his graduate education at the University of Chicago Committee on the General Studies in Humanities and the Committee on Human Development. He received the 2007 Graham School Excellence in Teaching Award.
