Fellowship Events

A community of faith is bound together by more than worship services.  At Holy Comforter, there are a series of events that bring parishioners together in fun and fellowship.  Some are built around a special service, such as the Maundy Thursday Agape Meal, while others celebrate the season, like the Parish Picnic or Fall Festival.  Family participation is encouraged in most events, while others are strictly for adults.  Below is a listing of the parish's annual events.  You may RSVP to any parish event by contacting the Community Life office.

Fall Festival

Put on your blue jeans and straw hat for your hayride through Kenilworth.  Enjoy hot apple cider while selecting that special pumpkin or a bagful of apples.  This family festival celebrates the arrival of autumn and is open to the greater community.  Hayrides and refreshments are free of charge.  Locally grown pumpkins and apples are for sale.

Fall Fellowship Dinner

This themed-party celebrates our parish community.  Adult parishioners gather in the Great Hall for refreshments, dinner and dancing.  Past party themes have included a Country Hoe-Down and My Big Fat Episcopal Wedding. The Fall Fellowship Dinner is held annually at the end of October.

Living Creche

The Nativity comes alive as our children portray the Christmas story and live animals fill the front lawn. Hot cocoa and cookies are served by the fire in the Great Hall for all attendees.  This Christmas tradition takes place on the second Sunday of December at 10:00 a.m.

Family Movie Night

Wear your PJs, bring your favorite pillow and curl up by the fire to watch a classic family movie.  A pizza dinner and popcorn are included.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Our youth groups prepare and serve this traditional pre-Lenten parish supper.  Reservations are not required, but are recommended.

Parish Picnic

An outdoor celebration of our parish family, and a kick-off to our summer schedule, the parish picnic begins with the Holy Eucharist at 10:00 a.m. followed by a picnic lunch, children's games, bingo and fellowship on the parish grounds. See pictures here...

Beach Party & Barbeque

Hosted by a parish family at their lakefront home, boating, beach activities, and a tasty buffet dinner are all part of the fun on a hot summer day.  Parishioners of all ages come for all or part of the day.  Live music and a pig roast add a tropical touch to the party. Ice Cream Social

An end-of-the-summer celebration begins with an outdoor Eucharist at 10:00 a.m. followed by cool treats and fellowship on the parish lawn. See pictures from the September 2009 social here...
