iConnect . . . with God, the Earth and One Another
iConnect, our 6th and 7th grade youth group, provides strategies for our young teens to better understand and strengthen their relationships with God, the earth, and with one another.
A connection to the earth will be made through stewardship. The goal is to understand our role as managers of God’s “stuff” on earth; realize that we are only supervisors, not owners, of our resources; and discover ways to be faithful stewards of our resources.
Students will be encouraged to communicate with God in a way that respects their physical and emotional development and their unique spirituality. They will be introduced to active and reflective prayer, and traditional and spontaneous prayers. They will discover how popular music can also be a form of prayer.
Finally, in preparation for their mission trip, there will be a focus on social justice and community service, aimed at helping our youth understand the social impact of our culture and how they can make a difference in their world. Topics may include poverty, diversity, child welfare and healthcare.
A fun review of basic Bible skills kicks off the year and is designed to help students find their way through the Bible with engaging activities, games and puzzles. Each Sunday meeting incorporates a Bible reading as well as prayer.
Christmas Gifts that Won’t Break will be iConnect’s Advent study - a celebration of four gifts that will never wear out or go missing . . . hope, love, joy and peace.
